Finn’s Golden Tavern™
Finn’s Golden Tavern Slot Review (NetEnt) — Ahoy Swirly Spins!
The beloved leprechaun is back in Finn’s Golden Tavern slot by NetEnt.
Back is also the unique Swirly Spin mechanic and Avalanches as seen in the 2017 Finn and the Swirly Spin. They’ve toned down the game significantly, leaving just 2 random features instead of 5, and just one free spins bonus instead of 4. This has doubled the maximum win potential to 1,000x+, introduced a new feature with coins, and added a new element of suspense to the bonus, which now also has an increasing win multiplier!
Finn’s Golden Tavern is currently live only at few big casinos like Veikkaus, Sky Vegas and Unibet, ahead of the official release on 4 December 2019.

Swirly Spin Mechanic
The Finn slot doesn’t play like normal slot because it has no reels or pay-lines.
Instead, it has one grid which move 25 symbols in a spiral pattern, starting at the bottom left corner. Symbols can intersect and overlap on the same row or column, so when you get 3-5 matching symbols, horizontally or vertically, you’ll trigger a win.
There are two types of wins:
- Wins that don’t contain a Wild (Star) symbol: Will always create a new Wild in place of one of the exploded symbols!
- Wins with a Wild (Star) symbol: The Wild symbol will explode and destroy not only the winning symbols but also the symbols around it.
This helps to create new wins and move the Free Spins Chest symbol to the centre, which is the whole point of the game as it’ll trigger the main bonus.
In addition to 4 regular symbols which pay up to 5x bet, there are 4 Coins.
Coins Ahoy
Finn’s Golden Tavern introduces a new type of symbol called Coins. Each coin symbol has a value that pays out for a match of 3 or more coins: 5 coins (0.50x), 10 coins (1x), 20 coins (2x) or 50 coins (5x).
Unlike regular symbols, coins have only one value which they will pay out individually regardless which coins you have in a combo (values will be combined and then paid out).
👍 Tip: Wild will always substitute and turn into a random coin, whenever possible (completing several combos at once).
Random Features
The Golden Tavern slot has just half of the random features compared to the first game, but they seem to be more strategic and usually kick in when the bonus chest is approaching the middle, acting as a second chance.
- Fist Slam Feature (Main Game Only) – All it does is create a 3-of-a-kind win to keep the avalanches going.
- Random Coin Feature – Turns 2 low-pay symbols into Coin symbols.
Once the chest reaches the middle (and all avalanches are complete), it’s time to say hello to free spins and a new increasing win multiplier!
Free Spins Bonus + Unlimited Win Multiplier
The main feature is triggered when the Free Spins Chest swirls to the very centre.
You’ll get only 5 Free Spins and just one type of it: with an increasing win multiplier! Unlike good old MegaWays slots, where the multiplier increases with each win, in Finn’s Golden Tavern you’ll need 5 wins to get +1 win multiplier. Blimey!
Once the Chest reaches the centre, you won’t re-trigger the spins but win the Coin Bonus.
Coin Bonus Free Spins
When the Chest reaches the middle in the bonus, it’ll help you by transforming many symbols into extra coins for a nice bonus payout, guaranteed.
Overall, Free Spin wins tend to be between 50-100x which is nice, but I would have loved it better if it had a full re-trigger or maybe a second level with one of the free spin features from the first game (there are 4 of them!).
👍 Geek stats: Feature hit frequency is 0.55% + 0.12% for the coin bonus; RTP allocation in the Free Spins is 22.2% and 7.8% for the coin bonus.
Conclusion
The Return of the Spiral Spin Mechanic
Although with fewer bonuses to loot, Finn’s Golden Tavern is a nice variation of reactor slots like Golden Glyph (Quickspin) or The Shadow Order (Push Gaming), especially for beginners. Wins are not as predictable as traditional slots and the game builds up very nicely into the bonus as opposed to randomly getting 3+ Scatters like with regular spinning reels. The continuous domino effect also adds an extra fun factor to spins which start from as little as 0.10 credits. Combine that with great graphics and jolly sound effects to get a play-worthy result like this leprechaun-gone-pirate themed slot.
Splice the mainbrace! 🍻
P.S. Check one of the two above-mentioned games to step up on volatility and max win.

Can you trust Mvideoslots.com reviews? I hope so, because at the end of the day I want you to be happy with the casino or slot that you choose. If you decide to look around then make sure that it is a trusted source because it is common practice for casino operators to have their own “review sites” which are biased, not to mention the sites which have reviews written by people who are not following the industry.
