Fire In The Hole xBomb
Fire In The Hole xBomb Slot Review (Nolimit City)
Fire In The Hole xBomb is the first Nolimit City slot with the xBomb feature.
It is the fourth X-feature in the award-winning studio’s portfolio, which is a subtle but essential addition in the pursuit of golden nuggets in the deepest of the base games. If not the main game then the free spins bonus can certainly be a life-changing event with the second-highest payouts to date up for grabs. Expectations are high. — After all, there are some overlapping elements from both Money Train and Bonanza that one cannot ignore. All that pickaxing comes with up to 46,656 ways to win but also severe volatility that can make some more ambitious players reach for the most expensive bonus buy more frequently.
Fire In The Hole has been available for play since 2 March 2021. You will find it at our tested Nolimit City slot sites like Rizk.

Collapsing Mine + xBomb Feature
The gold mine-themed game starts with a 6Ă—3 reel and at least 64 ways to win. Each win generates a collapse that unlocks more rows for a maximum of 6 rows and up to 46,656 ways to win. That depends on how many bricks and TNTs find their way onto the screen in addition to the 10 regular (stackable) symbols with win values of up to 7.50x bet per line.
The TNT Wilds can appear in two ways.
- xBomb Wild Multiplier — explosion removes adjacent symbols and increases the win multiplier by +1 for the next collapse, no matter if it’s a winning round or not.
- Wild Mining — feature works similarly and is triggered when there are 3, 4 or 5 of-a-kind symbols aligned horizontally that do not start from the leftmost reel. The symbols explode and leave 1-3 Wilds in their place.
However, the real mine bombing starts in the free spins bonus.
Lucky Wagon Spins Bonus
Get 3-5 Bonus symbols to unlock the Lucky Wagon Spins.
This free spins bonus is quite different from the base game and will be played with a moving cart-reel (similar to Bonanza’s top reel), and 2-4 rows, respectively. Regardless of how many Bonus icons you get, you will always start with 3 spins that reset each time you catch a symbol during the spins.
The top row is reserved for six enhancers:
- Coin values – awards 1x, 10x, 15x, 25x, 50x or 100x bet for each coin.
- Multipliers – multiplies the value of all coins on that reel by x2, x3, x4, x5, x10 or x25.
- Dynamite – award a multiplier x2-x5 and blow up 2-5 locked positions at the bottom, and can unlock the Collect Chests (see below).
- Bag – collects all coins and multipliers on the corresponding reel.
- Chest – collects all values and removes all coins apart from Dwarf (rare).
- Dwarf – collects all values on every spin (so rare it hurts).
The Collect Chests are located at the very bottom row can only be activated with the Dynamite enhancer. They work like Dwarfs in that they collect coin values of the column above on every spin.
The bonus ends when the reel gets full or when the spins end.
Bonus Buy
Even though the minimum bonus usually lands every couple of hundred spins, players who have the option can also buy Lucky Wagon Spins at any moment. There are three variants: 60x, 157x and 500x bet. The most expensive one is also the most rewarding since it’s played with no bricks and with full 4 rows: you really only need one Dynamite enhancer to keep big win celebrations rollin’ till the end.
đź‘Ť Tip: RTP for the bonus buy increases from 96.06% to 96.07%, 96.20% and 96.96% from the cheapest to the most expensive bonus.
Conclusion
Fire In The Hole is an uptempo slot with a dynamite-load of win potential. At the maximum stake of 50 credits it can generate wins of up to 3,000,000. Although that is yet to be achieved and trump the €1,026,240 win on Book of Shadows, it’s quite impressive to see that, as I write this, quite a number of players have already celebrated the 60,000x win moment and seen the special clip that Nolimit had once again in store for them at the very end (making them that much more special in a way).
While the xBomb explosions and the expanding reels are a neat addition, there is often a lot going on which is difficult to follow even with normal game speed. Even though the hit frequency is around 25% lower than the San Quentin slot, the base game positively surprised with a good number of big wins. However, it does take an effort and a chunk of luck to get anywhere above 100x bet before the wagons start rolling at the top.
While Fire In The Hole is not as well crafted as Money Train 2, it is more playable for the more casual punters, at least from my rigorous couple-of-day testing. I wish it had more thrill to it, like a nicer soundtrack/score maybe, but as far as the overall experience goes, it’s a fun addition to the xNudge, xWays and xPays trio.
Happy mining!
